RN3KK Receiving Loop Antenna

Yesterday I had a couple hours of free time so I decided make a receiving loop antenna for my receiver DEGEN. When the antenna was made and connected to the receiver I was amused how good it worked. Figure 1 shows design of the antenna. I used a surplus copper tube (looks like ¼ inch in diameter). Coupling loop was made from copper wire in 2- mm diameter (12 AWG). To the receiver the loop was connected by coaxial cable RG-58. It was used variable capacitor 2 x 12- 495- pF. With this capacitor the loop covered 2.5- 18.3- MHz range. Connection to bridge to the variable capacitor a fixed capacitor in 2200- pF gives receiving on 160 meter band.
